How do I get started?

It couldn’t be easier to get started. Just download the app here and link it to a Canadian bank account. While it is an app backed by RBC, there are 130 bank options to choose from. This is one of the cash back apps that has something for everyone!

Next, you’ll set up a profile, which will include your basic information. While it’s not mandatory, I would suggest putting in your postal code so that offers are tailored to your specific location.

Ok, I’ve got the app. Now what?

Before you hit the shops, browse through the offers and plan your trip around them. Just make sure you are using your linked credit card while shopping since that is the only way you will earn. As soon as you shop one of the offers, in-store or online, your account balance will increase. Another huge benefit to Ampli is you are automatically given cash. Unlike other cash back apps, there are no points or coins to convert. Speaking of cashing out, it couldn’t be easier. As soon as your Ampli balance reaches $15, you’ll have the option of an e-transfer straight to your bank account. These transfers can take up to 3 business days, but you’ll often receive the funds much quicker. A lot of cashback apps charge you a fee for money transfers, not Ampli; everything about this is free.

This app isn’t just about making some extra cash, it’s about winning big. While browsing offers, watch out for ones that offer extra cash back on top of rewards. Currently, there is an offer for The Home Depot which offers 2% cashback when you use one of your linked cards. You can pretty much get anything home-related from Home Depot, so stock up while the getting’s good! Just lookout for the blue symbol on offers, it will tell you if an offer is amplified or not.

The only con I see right now is since this is a newer app, the participating brands are a bit limited. New companies join the platform weekly, though, so it seems like the offers will just continue to grow in time.
